No matter what the material your wallet is made of, you will come to a point, in time, of considering a replacement for what you have right now. True enough, wallets are considered to be indispensable by most people. And these people often put time and effort to looking for the detail and the quality that suit their style before they purchase a new one or a newer model.

All aspects concerning wallets like the style, design, material, size, etc. plays a significant role to the decision that the wallet buyer will make. It doesn’t only always concern durability, functionality and style. People, especially women, also take into consideration the wide variety of brands and prices that are available in the market today. A person may have a different standard of what the perfect wallet is for him. Some people who believe in the convenience of plastic money, those who carry just credit cards or debit cards, take advantage of the availability of wallets that only have compartments for cards. But still, there are people who prefer the traditional way of carrying money. And they look for wallets whose designs have spaces or compartments where they can put their money in.

But truth be told, not all of us are oriented with the large variety of wallet designs. It can get really confusing, especially when you are in a hurry to purchase a new wallet. And in these instances, you might end up with a wallet that does not fit your needs or your taste. Therefore, it is best to know the basic types of wallets before you go rummaging through the department store display looking for a wallet to buy.

To begin with, there are bi-fold wallets. This is the most basic type of wallet in the market. These wallets have only one fold: at the center. And they are easy to open. Also, they are very flexible. Some of them have zippers to close them securely. These zippers help keep the coins and other small articles in the wallet from falling. There is a sleeker version, the billfold, which holds bills and credit cards. This design also has security pockets and sometimes even an ID holder.

Some people look for more space to put their checkbooks in. So they get a checkbook wallet. These store bills, credit cards and your checkbook as well.

Front pocket wallets are the slim and sleek versions of the bi-fold wallets. They are designed to be put in the front pockets of your trousers without making them bulge like you had an apple or a rock in it. This design also makes it pretty difficult for pickpockets or thieves to get a hold of them without catching the owner’s attention.

ID wallets are best for people who need to display their identity cards more frequently than others. Remember how cops in the movies flash their badges or their IDs from their wallets? What they use are ID wallets. The clear, vinyl compartment will make the ID, or the badge for that matter, immediately visible.

Money clip wallets keep your bills neatly folded. However, the money is not covered. This type of wallet is best for people who need their cash ready at all times. This is for people who do not have time to waste searching for their money in the wallet’s compartments.

And lastly, tri-fold wallets are wallets that have several compartments for photos, money, business cards, credit cards and even checkbooks. This is the perfect wallet for people who like to keep all their stuff in one carrying utility.
